Team and roles

Memberships, owners, and what each role can do.

Team lives at the account level. Invite people from Team. Each membership has a role and, for non-admins, a list of events they can open.

Roles

Role in Studio Code Notes
Administrator administrator Can update the account. Sees every event.
Event Creator event_creator Default role. Only assigned events.
Collaborator collaborator Assigned events.
Check-in Crew checkin_assistant Check-in only on assigned events.

Owner is separate. An owner is an ownership on the account, not a membership role. The person who created the account is an owner.

What each role can do

From the current policies:

  • Open the account — any activated member, plus super-admins
  • Update account profile / most settings — owner or administrator
  • Billing, plans, add-ons, payment, destroy account — owner only
  • Manage an event — owner, administrator, or an Event Creator / Collaborator assigned to that event
  • Check in — event admins, plus any member whose assigned events include this one (Check-in Crew)
  • Registration forms — event admins, and only if the event’s plan allows forms
  • Send campaign test emails — account owner only

Check-in Crew do not get Setup, Attendees, Registration, Content, or Communication in the sidebar.

Invites

Inviting a teammate creates a membership. They sign in with that email. You can deactivate a membership later without deleting the user.

Event Creators and Collaborators must be assigned to specific events or they will not see those gatherings.
