An event is a `Gathering`. It belongs to one account and holds attendees, registration, onsite, content, and apps.

## Create

**Events → New event.** Required pieces are a name and the basics of when/where it happens. After create you land on the event dashboard.

Statuses used in the product and API:

| Status | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| `draft` | Not published |
| `upcoming` | Published, not started |
| `live` | Happening now |
| `completed` | Finished |
| `canceled` | Canceled |
| `archived` | Archived |
| `published` | Published (API also lists this) |

The event card in the sidebar changes color for live, completed, canceled, and archived events.

## Setup

**Setup → Event details** edits name, dates, timezone, venue, and description.

**Setup → Branding** sets the logo and brand colors used by emails, the public site, kiosks, and the Event App.

**Setup → Website** opens the event website builder when the website module is on. It is on for every event in the current product.

## Settings

Event **Settings** (for people who can update the account):

- **Team** — who can work on this event
- **Plan** — event subscription and add-ons (owners)
- **Integrations** — Eventbrite import/sync for this event

## Plan gates

Plan group lives on the event’s subscription:

| Group | Unlocks |
| --- | --- |
| Free | Core event + attendees + check-in |
| Starter (`starter` or `pro`) | Registration forms, email campaigns, badge templates |
| Pro (`pro`) | Kiosks (`onsite_pro`) |

Add-ons (purchased separately or included):

- Event App
- Lead retrieval
- Expo sponsors
- Expo passport
- Party check-in

One free account is grandfathered for registration forms. Everyone else needs Starter or Pro to use forms.

## Capacity

Non-ticketed events can cap guests in two ways:

- Plan attendee limit
- Event **limited** guest cap (`max_guests`)

The remaining capacity is the lower of those minus the current participant count. Ticketed events do not use this cap — ticket types have their own capacity.
